The growing of fresh Swan Valley produce is ruled by the four seasons of our Mediterranean climate. Passionate and dedicated growers, the warm climate and fertile soils create a bounty of mouth-watering food grown with love.
Seasonal eating makes perfect sense - using food that is fresh, flavoursome and abundant elevates favourite dishes to the next level of deliciousness. As an added bonus, seasonal produce is also when food is at its least expensive.
From fresh and crunchy table grapes that you can buy direct from the grower at one of the many roadside stalls, olive oil, eggplants, tomatoes, melons, citrus, figs, asparagus and the lushest ripe mangoes, the Valley has it covered. There are also seasonal pick-your-own experiences to enjoy as well as outlets open all year that offer a wide range of fresh produce.
Honey is also a specialty. Buy direct from the beekeeper and be assured that it is pure and natural. No matter when you visit the Swan Valley there is always something fresh, ripe and in season ready for you to enjoy. By eating locally-grown food you are supporting farmers and producers, and investing your food dollars in the community.

MARCH - MAY
The cooler autumn weather marks the end of vintage for winemakers and the end of harvest season for our table grape growers and some fruit and vegetable growers. You will see the grape vines being pruned ready for dormancy over the colder winter months. Other growers are starting to plant peas, broad beans, herbs and other fruits and vegetables in preparation for a spring harvest.
March is also when pumpkins, mangoes, and pomegranates ripen in the Swan Valley. The unique pomegranate fruit, sought after by chefs, is delicious fresh or made into syrup.
