The Swan Valley’s reputation as a leading wine region has been celebrated at the 2026 Swan Valley Wine Show, with a record 292 wines entered and 211 medals awarded across gold, silver and bronze.
Held at Mandoon Estate from August 11 to 14, the 38th Swan Valley Wine Show is one of Australia’s longest-running wine shows. Hosted by the Swan Valley Winemakers Association, this event gives local winemakers an opportunity to benchmark their wines, celebrate excellence and continue strengthening the region's wine industry.
This year, 72 per cent of entries received a medal, highlighting the quality of wines being produced across the Swan Valley.
Talijancich Wines won the City of Swan Trophy for the exhibitor whose five or more entries achieved the highest average score.
The winery also took home trophies for Best Swan Valley Old Vine Wine (1981 Solero Liqueur Shiraz NV), Best Fortified Wine of Show (2007 Pedro Ximenes Liqueur) and Best WA Fortified Wine (2007 Pedro Ximenes Liqueur), recognising the strength and diversity of its wines.
Mandoon Estate was another major winner, receiving six trophies including Most Successful Producer and the Liquor Barons trophy for the Best Regional Wine of Show. Its 2025 Durif was recognised for showing the distinctive regional character of the Swan Valley.
The Liquor Barons trophy is judged separately and is only open to Swan Valley wines that have received a gold medal. It recognises wine that judges consider best demonstrates the character of the Swan Valley as a wine region.
The 2026 Spirit of the Swan Award was presented to Derek Pearse and Laura Rowe from Upper Reach Winery for their outstanding contribution to the Swan Valley’s wine industry and visitor economy.
With more than 30 years of involvement in promoting the Swan Valley, Derek and Laura have helped establish Upper Reach as one of the region's leading boutique wineries. Their combination of wine, food and accommodation has contributed to Swan Valley’s reputation as both a quality wine region and a destination for visitors.
The Swan Valley Wine Show is an important part of celebrating the people, producers and products that make the region unique, while helping local winemakers continue to grow and showcase the Swan Valley as a destination for great wine, food and experiences.
