The Swan River Colony’s first Surveyor General, John Septimus Roe, showed vision, meticulous planning and creativity galore when he staked out ‘Location L’ on the banks of the Upper Swan in 1829, and set about transforming virgin bush into a vineyard.
In 2008, the Erceg family showed the same qualities when they purchased the 13.2 ha property from the Roe family and set about creating Mandoon Estate.
Winemaker Ryan Sudano was charged with releasing the magic within this historic vineyard and old vines, some of which are over 100 years old. Now with vineyards in the Swan Valley and Margaret River, Mandoon Estate has an enviable portfolio of award-winning wines that rank with the world's best. Mandoon Estate is the only Swan Valley winery that is an invited member of Ultimate Winery Experiences of Australia and is a James Halliday red five star rated winery.
Immerse yourself in the world of wine, from vine to bottle with Mandoon Estate's Wine Immersion experience. Start with a guided tour of the historic vineyard, where the first vines were planted in 1895. Next, head to the winery, hosted by a member of the talented winemaking team where you will learn about Mandoon’s winemaking philosophy and taste wine straight from the barrel. Then enjoy a guided tasting at the cellar door, putting your knowledge to the test whilst enjoying a delicious cheese platter.
Mandoon Estate is home to Homestead Brewery, a fine craft brewery where you can experience a behind-the-scenes look at the brewery's German-built Kasper Schulz brewing equipment.This 45 minute guided tour explains the process behind the making of their exceptional craft beers and includes a tasting paddle of five Homestead beers to enjoy at the conclusion of the tour.
