The Guildford Town Bakery is known for its very fine pies, along with old-fashioned sweet favourites like beestings, vanilla slices, cinnamon buns, muffins and donuts.
This family-run business was opened over 20 years ago by baker, John Voight who worked hard over the years to achieve a reputation for consistency and quality. Now retired, this mantle has passed to new owners, Maree and Lauren.
The bakery's pies, sausage rolls and pasties are a labour of love. Fillings are all made from scratch and the pastry is house-made.
Other savoury delights include pizza pockets, savoury scrolls and pretzels.
The shop also sells artisan loaves such as traditional sourdough, focaccia, dark rye, pumpkin bread and more.
Working under John's guidance for about 5 years prior to taking the business on, Maree and Lauren share his high passion for the job. Their aim is to keep the business family-run, and they note that with staff that also feel like family, it hasn't been hard to do that.
