Continuing their pursuit of funky flavours, the brothers behind Caversham’s House of Funk, Dustin and Martin Michael, have opened the doors to a second venue in the Swan Valley – Funk 2.0.
Described as a fermentary, visitors to Funk Brewshed can discover a new-world approach to craft beer, hybrids, cider and wine. All creations are unpasteurised, as well as preservative, concentrate and sulphur-free, with no added sugar.
The vibrant new space features indoor and outdoor seating with a bar fitted out with WA’s largest beer tap. 18 taps serve up a healthy rotation of ciders, beers and project hybrids offering plenty of experimental limited edition flavours to sample on your next visit.
The Funk Brewshed kitchen boasts sophisticated but approachable pub food, designed by chef Cole Hall, to be matched perfectly with Funk’s beverages. Expect hearty plates including cauliflower fried in cider batter with chilli and spring onions or the lamb shoulder served in cider jus. The majority of dishes are gluten free with vegan/vegetarian options available.
Funk Cidery & Brewery Tour is the chance to check out the action behind the scenes at WA’s funkiest cidery and brewery! Tour the state-of-the-art production shed at Funk Brewshed with one of the funkcionado team members to embark on a journey of how drinks are made at Funk and enjoy a Perth Cider while at it. Learn more about the story of Funk, from cold pressing juices in the Wheatbelt to the Brewshed, discover the boutique way of making the drinks with real local fruits, and understand the cidermaking and brewing processes from a whole new perspective. Add on a tasting session to have one of the experienced team members guide you through tasters of 3 ciders and 3 beers available on tap. Tours are available on Thursdays and Fridays weekly from 11.00 am and run for 45 minutes. Insider's Tip: Mondays and Thursdays are usually the juicing days. If you are keen to see a busier production site and the juicing process, it is recommended you book for the Thursday tour. Public holidays affect juicing days so if you are visiting on a week that has a public holiday, please check updated details with the team. NB: Bookings are essential
