How do I activate my Digital Gift Card?

Go to the email or SMS you have received from Special and click on the link to “Unwrap and start using your card.”

If you have an account, simply sign in. Alternatively, if you don’t have an account, you'll need to create an account.

Now that you’ve signed into your account, it’s time to unwrap your Special Gift Card!

Click anywhere on your screen to start unwrapping!

1. To activate your card, you’ll next need to select "Set PIN and activate card".
   
   Remember, you’ll need to use this 4-digit PIN when the time comes to spend your Gift Card so this should be something that you remember and shouldn’t be shared with anyone else.
2. Confirm your 4-digit PIN to complete.
3. You can now "Manage" the card or "Add to Wallet" - This can only be done on the Special Gift Card app.

Please go to Apple App Store or Google Play Store, search for Special Gift Cards and download the app.

To view the Active Gift Card details, select the Wallet icon from within the Special Gift Cards App and select the card you'd like to "Manage" from the screen. You can also view your "Past" Gift Cards from this screen.

How do I redeem my Digital Gift Card?

Your Special Cards are always with you! To redeem your Special Card, follow the below steps.

Redeem from your Special Wallet

1. Sign into your Special account via the Special App or website
2. Go to the wallet and click on the desired “Active” Special Card that you wish to use
3. Add the card to your Apple or Google Pay Wallet for In-store use. Once the card has been added, proceed to use the card as if you would any other debit or credit card. For online use, select your desired card in the wallet and then select “Spend Online” and then proceed to copy the card information to use at the checkout.

** The card information must be input in the Credit or Debit payment option, not in the voucher or Gift Card option.

Once you have used all the remaining balance of your Special Card, the card will be archived in your wallet under “Past” cards.

How to add the Gift Card to my Apple or Google Pay Wallet?

You’ll first need to download the Special Gift Card App if you haven’t already got it on your mobile device. Please go to Apple App Store or Google Play Store, search for Special Gift Cards and download the app.

Once you’ve downloaded the App and logged in, to view the Active Gift Cards, select the Wallet icon from within the Special Gift Cards App and scroll to select the card you'd like to add to your wallet from the screen. You can also view your "Past" Gift Cards from this screen.

Please ensure your Special Gift Card has been activated in the Special App by following the activation link you received.

You’ll now be able to store the card in your phone’s digital wallet.

To do this you can tap "Add card to Apple Wallet" icon on the screen to add to Apple Pay, or ‘Add card to Google Pay’ to add to Google Pay.

If your phone is paired with an Apple Watch, you can choose to add your card to the wallet on your phone, the wallet on your watch, or both.

You will also be able to see your card each time you log into your Special Account and click on “My Gift Cards”.

Your Gift Card can be added to multiple wallets by following the same steps above.

How do I use my Digital Gift Card for in-store purchases?

Special Cards get used just like your regular credit cards from within your mobile wallet.

Once you have added your Special Card to your Apple Pay or Google Pay Wallet, you can use your phone to "tap and go" at contactless point of sale terminals (look for the Contactless, Apple Pay, Google Pay logo).

Simply, go to the checkout within the store, open your mobile wallet with your Special Card and tap it over the eftpos Terminal. Depending on the value you may be required to enter your PIN. Once completed the payment will process.

Pay with your iPhone

1. To use your default payment card:
2. If your iPhone has Face ID, double-click the side button. Authenticate with Face ID or enter your passcode.
3. If your iPhone has Touch ID, rest your finger on the Touch ID sensor.

To use a different card, tap your default card to see your other cards. Tap a new card and authenticate.

Hold the top of your iPhone near the contactless reader until you see Done and a tick on the display.

Pay with your Apple Watch

1. Double-click the side button.
2. Your default card opens automatically. Scroll down to choose another card.
3. Hold the display of your Apple Watch near the contactless reader until you feel a gentle tap and hear a beep.

How to use Google Pay in a store

When it's time to pay with your card or contactless payment, you should:

1. Unlock your phone, but you don't need to open the Google Pay app.
2. Position the back of your phone close to the payment terminal for a few seconds. You might need to experiment a bit, since different terminals put the NFC antenna in different locations, but this will get easier with time as you learn what position works for the payment terminals you commonly use. If the terminal has a wireless or contactless payment symbol on it, try putting the phone near that logo.
3. The Google Pay App should launch automatically, and you may be required to enter your PIN or use the fingerprint reader.
4. After a moment, you should see a check mark appear, indicating that the purchase is complete.

If Google Pay doesn't start, try repositioning the phone until it does. You might also want to confirm with the cashier that the terminal does support Google Pay — some older terminals don't have contactless payments.

But also keep in mind that just because you don't see a contactless or wireless logo, it doesn't mean the terminal won't support Google Pay.

How do I use my Digital Gift Card for online purchases?

When you’re ready to make your purchase, you simply navigate to the check-out and enter your Special Gift Card details directly into the Credit Card field.

You'll first need to locate your Gift Card from within the Special App by clicking "Wallet" icon from the bottom of your screen. Then simply select the card you would like to use and tap on the card image to view the card details.

You will now see the card's details. You will need the card number, expiry date and CVC to complete your online transaction. If you are asked for a Card Holder's name, you will need to enter your name as the receiver of the Gift Card.

**The card information must be input in the Credit or Debit payment option, not in the voucher or Gift Card option.

Once you’ve pressed submit, your order will be confirmed.
