The owner of this casual, no-frills pizzeria had just one aim in mind when he opened in 2016: to serve simple, authentic pizza in unpretentious surroundings, just like they do it in Naples. So he imported a pizza oven from Italy and makes his pizza dough fresh each day, using only imported Italian pizza flours and olive oils.
The menu at this back-to-basic BYO is small – there were four types of pizza on offer at last count – and the pizzas themselves are rustic, full-flavoured and finished with generous toppings. There’s no corkage charge at Louie’s and you’ll be drinking out of water tumblers unless you bring your own glassware.
The Swan Street precinct continues to grow as a dining-out hub and is becoming something of a family affair, with Louie’s son and daughter-in-law owning Little Guildford, a couple of doors along.
