Home to the largest glass micro-brewery kettle in the Southern Hemisphere (and try saying that after a couple of glasses of 6.2% bock), Elmar’s in the Valley produces a range of award-winning beers, made in strict accordance with the 1516 German Beer Purity Law.
Elmar and Anette Dieren came to Australia from Germany in 1987, bringing with them German machinery, knowledge, experience and a passion for smallgoods production. Two stores and one hell of a lot of bratwurst later, the Dieren’s opened their Swan Valley restaurant and brewery in 2005 and haven’t looked back.
As well as serving the full range of Elmar’s beer, the restaurant serves hearty portions of beer-friendly fare. Next to the restaurant, there’s a small deli that sells continental jams and mustards, German chocolates and – of course - Elmar’s famous smoked sausages, hams, pates and salamis, all of which are delightfully free of gluten, artificial colours and flavours.
With a two acre, fully licensed beer garden and undercover alfresco dining space, Elmar’s in the Valley has become the perfect place to sit back, relax and enjoy great craft beer and good food all year round.
Be sure to visit Elmar’s during Oktoberfest, when this Bavarian tradition is celebrated with live music, steins, games, food … and plenty of German Bier.
