Top five delights for wine lovers in June

12 June 2019

June is for wine lovers! Head to the Swan Valley this month and warm your bellies against the winter chill with a host of wine tastings, showcases and lazy lunches. From a Rosé Ladies Lunch at Sandalford Wines, to a Wine Appreciation Class at Upper Reach, here are our top five delights for wine lovers in June.

  1. Rosé Ladies Lunch at Sandalford Wines – June 16, $85

Pink, bright and bold with overtones of strawberries and cream, blueberries and raspberries, with vanilla and cinnamon spices, Sandalford’s Margaret River Rosé may be the star of the show but it’s about to have some competition. Chef Andrew Mann has created a divine luncheon showcasing Cone Bay barramundi, Shark Bay crab and a delectable dessert of crème brulee infused with Sandalford’s flagship Sandalera dessert wine. Gather your favourite ladies and nab your spot today.

  2. Red Wine Showcase at Upper Reach Winery – June 16, $25

Adore your robust reds? This one’s for you. Join winemaker Derek Pearse as he shares his fabulous new releases, talking and sampling through the story of each, before chowing down on Upper Reach’s famous mouth-watering Hungarian meatballs. These wines will keep you warm on the chilly nights ahead, so it’s the perfect time to stock up the cellar.

  3. Winter Benchmark Tasting and Lunch at Faber Vineyard – June 16, $150

Faber’s talented winemaker John Griffiths loves organising the annual Benchmark tasting. With 2016 a top vintage for WA and SA, he's selected six Barossa and six local wines, including Faber's new 2016 Reserve Shiraz. Alongside coveted drops from Henschke, Penfolds, Glaetzer, Turkey Flat, Houghtons, Mandoon and Cape Mentelle, it will be tasted blind, in brackets of four at a time, followed by a hearty discussion. Along the way, enjoy a sensational four-course winter's lunch starring Vince Garreffa's porchetta as the main. Yes please!

  4. Flight of Wine Tasting at RiverBank Estate - June 28, $50

Back by popular demand! Join Riverbank’s senior winemaker Digby Leddin for an intimate wine tasting over a mouth-watering chef’s tasting plate. You’ll enjoy three premium wine ranges – On The Run, Rebellious and Eric Anthony – while overlooking Riverbank’s stunning 30-year-old vineyard. Only 20 spots are available, so if you’re a wine enthusiast, make haste.

  5. Wine 101 Wine Appreciation Class at Upper Reach Winery – June 29, $45

Wine buffs will adore Upper Reach’s Wine 101 Wine Appreciation classes. Held in the back of the working winery surrounded by tanks, barrels and winemaking equipment, these laidback classes demonstrate the differences between sweet and dry, explain what oak does to a wine and investigate the merits of aged wines. You’ll swirl, sniff and sample like a pro upon graduation, with myths busted and all your pressing wine questions answered. Perfect for beginners and wine lovers alike.
