Winter family fun

6 July 2020

See you in the Swan Valley

After months of restrictions, WA families are again enjoying the freedom to get out and about to their favourite places. It may be winter but the Swan Valley has plenty of indoor and outdoor activities to help families avoid cabin fever.

Whether you visit for a morning, an afternoon or the whole day, there’s something for all ages and budgets.Visit some cuddly animals, book a round of mini golf or stock up on sweet treats at a chocolate factory. We’ve even taken care of the planning with three trails designed specifically for family fun.

Kids in the Valley Trail

On the Kids in the Valley Trail, kids and grown-ups alike can feed Australian wildlife, cuddle farm animals, venture on a bush walk and much more.

Whether it's the excitement of seeing some of Western Australia’s coolest reptiles, enjoying delicious chocolate and ice cream, playing a round of mini golf, hiking and picnicking at Bells Rapids or giving baby animals a big hug, the Kids in the Valley Trail has something for everyone.

The Kids in the Valley Trail has 10 stops that can be enjoyed over many days. We suggest you choose one adventure, a lunch stop and a special treat stop each time you visit.

The Great Valley Rally and The Amazing Valley Chase

When was the last time you went on an old-fashioned treasure hunt or used your imagination to solve a puzzle?

Put on your super sleuth cap and get on board The Great Valley Rally, a thrilling treasure hunt where you and your fellow explorers can follow Stirling the Black Swan’s cryptic clues along a specific route in the Valley.

The Great Valley Rally is also available with a hi-tech twist. Using mobile data and a digital device, participants can now have the clues delivered by a Facebook Messenger chatbot. When you’re ready to start your engine, select launch the chatbot here!

On the exciting Amazing Valley Chase, Taylor Tortoise will guide you around the many attractions of the Swan Valley using a clever clue sheet.

These activities, which are part car rally, part treasure hunt are ideally suited to families with children aged five to 12 years old. We’ve even heard of groups of adults tackling the rallies for a spot of fun.  Why not get several families together to do the Rally or the Chase and afterwards meet up for a picnic at one of the great Swan Valley picnic destinations?
