Grounded days

23 October 2018

In our coffee-loving culture, it’s no surprise that the gourmet-leading Swan Valley and surrounding regions are home to a couple of excellent coffee roasters and a smattering of unique coffee houses. In fact, two of Perth’s most prominent coffee roasters are based right here in the Swan Valley and offer a huge range of in-house blends and roasts to suit every palate.

Tucked inside Oakover Winery is FiORi Coffee, hosted by award-winning barista and latte art trainer Andy Tseng. Not only is Andy a terrific guy with encyclopaedic coffee-knowledge and delicious brews, FiORi also provides full staff and equipment training for their clients.

Yahava KoffeeWorks is a favourite made famous by Dutch explorer Alex Kok, also known as the Koffee Baron in the history books. His mission was to bring the best coffee from around the world and introduce them to WA; to this day they still source excellent beans from different regions worldwide.

As for the wider coffee trail through the region, crowd favourite Little Guildford has been offering some of Perth’s best coffees and brunches for years. They also do lunch and some dinners but did we mention their excellent coffee???

New neighbour Willing Coffee takes their brew very seriously, offering the regions first genuine Italian-inspired coffee bar. Their baristas are amongst the most highly trained on offer, and their deliberately small menu ensures an intimate and spot-on experience every single time.

In the same vicinity is Padbury's Cafe Restaurant, housed in a gorgeous strip of buildings from 1869 and offering old-school elegance to Guildford. They offer high tea on weekends and, importantly, excellent coffee all week.

And for our final entry in Guildford, visit Maddison Cottage which offers traditional high tea presented on beautiful vintage homewares. Their coffee is delicious but they are most well known for their huge range of teas.

Travel out onto West Swan Road and make sure you visit Urbanistar Café. They’re well known for their iced coffee and home-made pastries and muffins. Leigh’s coffees are consistently listed as favourites on every foodie review website and people come from far and wide for their morning drive thru fix at the Urbanistar window.
