We’re a big fan of pooches here in the Swan Valley, with plenty of places welcoming four-legged pals with open arms. If you can’t bear for Fido to miss out on the family brunch, fear not – we’ve compiled a list of nine dog-friendly favourites in the Swan Valley.
Whiteman Park Village Café
This friendly, relaxed family-run café in the heart of Whiteman Park serves nutritious, house-made food and locally-roasted coffee with a focus on seasonal dishes and fresh produce. Well-behaved fur babies are most welcome to join their families in the alfresco area.
The Cheese Barrel
The Cheese Barrel offers around 80 artisanal cheeses from Australia and the world, along with wines from the Olive Farm winery next door. Try genuine French brie, camembert and European blues, and explore the wonderful world of Western Australian cheese as you relax with your beloved pooch in this tranquil spot overlooking Susannah Brook.
Taylor’s Art and Coffee House
Part cafe, part art studio, the Taylor team are passionate about serving fresh, organic food and quality coffee in a uniquely Australian setting. The seasonal menu changes with what’s available in the garden, so there are always new dishes to sample. Your four-legged friends will love hanging out in the spacious garden or wandering through the gorgeous grounds.
Ugly Duckling Wines
A charming, rustic cottage overlooking the vines is home to this small boutique vineyard and cellar door. Premium wines, all locally grown and crafted, coupled with old-fashioned service and a friendly smile is what you’ll get at this popular spot that happily welcomes dogs in the outdoor dining area. Enjoy a delicious platter of wine-friendly fare or choose from the range of gourmet pies while you relax and soak up the fantastic views to the Perth hills.
Prepare to be welcomed as part of the Carilley Estate family – Fido included! This stunning setting offers tasty meals, beautiful garden views and happy, attentive service. The extensive menu caters to the needs of vegetarians and those requiring gluten-free options and all desserts, marinades and sauces are made on the premises.
With authentic French cakes and desserts, you’ll feel like you've stepped into a little piece of France. Best of all? Dogs can come too! Choose from a selection of macarons and cakes, or try the ultimate sweet treat – a macaron and salted caramel ice cream sandwich. Families will love the child-friendly garden with garden toys, cubbyhouse and a sandpit.
Rustique by name and rustic by nature, this laid-back new eatery offers something for everyone and provides an authentic regional dining experience. Your four-legged friend will love the picturesque gardens nestled in the heart of the Valley while humans will dig the tasty treats such as breakfast burritos, honeycomb topped pancakes, gourmet platters, wood fired pizzas and burgers.
The Olive Tearooms & Café
The pooch-friendly grounds of the Olive Tearooms & Cafe are the perfect place to drop in with your furry friend. The tearooms here are housed in a beautifully refurbished and uber cosy cottage built in the 1920s, which was once the home of the Saunders family. Relax and indulge in peaceful surroundings outside with home-baked treats and your favourite furry friend.
Harking back to the family-run coffee shops of 1950s Italy, this petite, welcoming space is tucked away in a quiet, leafy enclave just down from the Rose and Crown Hotel. Owned by former Australian cycling champion Tim Willing and his classical singer wife Veronique, who love welcoming dogs to join them, the café offers fabulous specialty coffee along with simple, house-prepared brunches and treats (don’t miss the shortbread crostata made with local fruit.)
