Q: What’s the Swan Valley product you can't live without?

A: Asparagus and broad beans in spring, the best grapes in summer and, of course, Vinocotto drizzled on sweet and savoury dishes all throughout the year.

Q: The best place to chill in the Swan Valley?

A: An afternoon session at Lamont’s with the best duck parfait and mandarin oil or watching the sun go down over the vines at Mandoon Estate with a crisp white. Obviously Taylor's for brekky though!

Q: Who is your favourite Swan Valley personality?

A: It’s hard to define one special character or personality, the Swan Valley evokes such great community spirit amongst the locals and there have been countless personalities that have added joy, flavour and humour to my life. Artist Antonio Battistessa has to be the epitome of loving life on the land though, never getting knocked down by circumstance and keeping the community spirit alive.

Q: What’s your favourite Swan Valley drop?

A: Being a Swan Valley native I love big, bold flavours, indicative of a hot climate wine region, so any of the Reserve Shiraz or Chardonnays are my go to. When it's 40c in the shade though, a lighter floral Verdelho on ice is the only way forward.

Q: What was the best part about growing up in the Valley?

A: Living opposite Houghton Winery as a kid was a real treat. My three older brothers and I would run all through the cellars and climb up the massive pine trees before they got pruned too high. Jack and Angela Mann had a mulberry tree to pillage and we'd make jam from that. It was a utopia!
