Planning a day out experiencing all the Swan Valley has to offer? Start the day right with a breakfast overlooking the vines, or coffee in one of Perth’s oldest buildings. Here’s where we recommend.
A little slice of France sits in the Swan Valley where just about everything is handmade by the team - from the croissants and pastries, to the macarons and even the ice-cream.
Maison Saint-Honore keep things “French” meaning sweet and savoury crepes and buttery croissants galore but for those who prefer something familiar, there’s still a big breakfast and smashed avo... served on French bread of course.
For the kids - crepes with Nutella will have them wide-eyed with joy.
Coffee comes courtesy of Precision Coffee Roasters, selected for being the perfect match for the sweetness of the macarons.
French bubbles are available for those celebrating over breakfast… or just because.
To finish, order a macaron ice-cream sandwich for “breakfast dessert” - it’s so good.
There’s plenty of space outside and a decent play area to occupy the kids, making Maison a popular haunt for families and groups of parents with young children.
It gets super busy (weekend bookings are strongly suggested) but these guys run like a well-oiled machine - service is snappy and very French.
Breakfast served daily 7.30am - 11.30am
No visit to Padbury’s is complete without ordering their famous meringue munro pancakes. Two, thick, cloud-like buttermilk pancakes are topped with meringue, lemon curd, a slab of honeycomb and a sprinkling of granola for crunch. After the first bite, it’ll be easy to see why there’s so much hype.
Not a fan of sweet breakfasts? Try the crispy crepe with a chilli garlic prawn omelette and nam jim dressing, or keep things traditional with the smashed avo with a Mexican twist.
The beautiful food is matched by the stunning space of the heritage listed building that houses it, Padbury’s Store, that dates back to 1869. It’s warm yet opulent.
Being in historic Guildford on the doorstep of the Swan Valley makes Padbury’s the perfect place to stop by before a day out experiencing all the region has to offer.
Bookings on weekends are essential. Breakfast served daily from 7am.
Located on the grounds of Mandoon Estate, Homestead Brewery is serving up the quality of food you’d expect from a winery in a laid-back setting.
Breakfast strikes a good balance between traditional and dishes that push the envelope. Expect to see a full breakfast alongside a dish with truffled duck sausage, crispy kale and a duck egg. Or how about the choice between granola or a Japanese wellness bowl?
Coffee comes courtesy of Perth roaster Dimattina and as expected it makes for a delicious cuppa. Milkshakes are worth the $9 price tag - thick, creamy and served in the big silver tin.
After a belly-full of breakfast head over to the cellar door and try Mandoon’s award-winning wines.
Breakfast served daily 7.30am-9.30am with a smaller menu available weekdays.
While there are plenty of places in the Swan Valley more suited to the grown-up kids, Bailey Brewing Co was created with families in mind. There’s a massive nature playground with a flying fox and plenty of grass to run around. No kids? Don’t worry, there is seating available away from the children.
The brekky menu is concise and they do it well. There’s muesli, a brekky burger, smashed avo, omelette... that kind of thing.
Those after something substantial can still get a big breakfast fry-up. Kids are well catered for with options from fruit salad to bacon and eggs.
Bailey Brewing Co not only brews award winning beer here - these guys also roast their own coffee onsite and it makes a great cuppa.
Go for breakfast and make a day of it.
Breakfast available weekends 8am-11am.
