LedaSwan's Baskerville property was part of the district originally established for grape growing in 1923 by people from the Dalmatian Coast. These migrant settlers were to the Swan Valley as German settlers for instance were to the Barossa Valley area of South Australia.
Duncan Harris bought the property in 1998. While working full-time as an engineer, he spent every spare moment working to establish his winemaker's dream; the organic vineyard. With a hands-on approach, Duncan tends the vines, makes the organic wines and sells only at the cellar door and mail order.
Duncan began making wine in 1994 with the assistance of friends from the WA Permaculture Association, making unfortified preservative free dessert wines. In early 2001 Duncan fortuitously became a full-time vigneron. It was also the year that he became a father - to Madeleine Claire, born in November. A very good year! Duncan believes in sustainable viticulture and winemaking with the slow approach to making flavoursome wines.

Initially the vineyard, 15 acres, was established by Simon and Maaike Berns in 1993. Varieties planted are Verdelho, Chardonnay and Shiraz. Sittella's first Vintage was in February 1998.
The actual winery was finalised in July 1998 and officially opened for the public in October 1998 with an additional restaurant. Currently Sittella is crushing 120 tonne and produces premium wines, such as Chardonnay, Verdelho, Chenin, Shiraz ,Cabernet, Merlot, Port and Liqueur Verdelho. The grapes are sourced from our own and other Swan Valley Vineyards, from Margaret River, Manjimup and Frankland River.
Sittella's Restaurant has panoramic vineyard views, and serves good quality food matching
our premium wines.
