Swan River
As you journey up the Swan River from the Perth CBD to the Swan Valley, you are travelling by the Town of Bassendean and Cities of Bayswater and Belmont. A vibrant mix of modern attractions and fascinating heritage, the Swan River precinct is just 10 minutes from the CBD and the Swan Valley.
Swan River Heritage
From the indigenous dreamtime to the vibrant Perth we enjoy today the Swan River has featured in our development. It is no surprise then that many of our significant heritage landmarks stand on the Swan River banks. Walk and cycle heritage trails are a great way to absorb the region’s history, or visit restored heritage buildings, like Tranby or Halliday House. Many restored settlement buildings have found new life in community activities, such as the Ellis House community art gallery. The Swan River is also key to indigenous heritage, with many significant sites throughout the Swan River Precinct.
Bassendean
Bassendean has much to offer with seven kilometres of Swan River foreshore, and a charming town centre on Old Perth Road. For the footy fans, Steel Blue Oval has a long standing history in WA’s Football League (and make sure you check out the heritage gates before the game). Bassendean is also renowned for its participation in the arts, with an emphasis on sharing its creative spirit with events throughout the Town.
Bayswater
Known as the Garden City, Bayswater features 10 kilometres of river frontage which can be appreciated from the beautiful open spaces of Riverside Gardens and Bardon Park. Other recreation opportunities include catching a wave at Western Australia’s only wave pool, Bayswater Waves, or playing a round of golf with beautiful city views at the Maylands Peninsula Public Golf Course.
Belmont
Along the southern side of the Swan River stands the City of Belmont, home to both the domestic and international airports. Alongside numerous parks, playgrounds and wetlands, the City of Belmont has a thriving commercial centre, with a range of shopping and accommodation options, making it the perfect place to stay as you explore the region.
