You can learn much about this fascinating history by setting out on one of the self-guided heritage Walk Trails (PDF 459KB) which meander through the streets, you can even book a Guided Walk, both start from the Swan Valley Visitor Centre. Here you can view Guildford’s original courthouse (c. 1866) and interpretive displays that explain much about the region’s past.
Unique Shopping
Be sure to visit the James Street antique strip, which offers one of the largest ranges of second hand wares outside Perth. There’s also quaint home-décor outlets, specialty gift shops, galleries and clothing stores.
To discover a real treasure, visit the Guildford Heritage Art Markets, held on the third Sunday of the month. Here you can buy handmade goods and fresh homemade foods in a market typified by its country-style charm.
