Ellenbrook

Ellenbrook abounds with parks and picturesque public open spaces, and the integration of these facilities within each village actually encourages people to use them. Presently, Ellenbrook has 10 major parks, and all villages are connected with a network of walking and cycle paths.

Some of the other recreational facilities include a BMX fun track, a skate park, playgrounds, bushwalking trails, tennis, netball and basketball courts, and two sports ovals.

Striking public art has been commissioned for sites throughout Ellenbrook. Art is central to the new landscape being created at Ellenbrook and relevant to the lives of people living in this rapidly expanding and maturing community.

There are artworks throughout Ellenbrook. Each individual piece can be enjoyed for itself, but together they weave an ongoing story, linking ideas and creating a dialogue between the landscape and the viewer.

The artist Philippa O’Brien explores memories, history and the natural environment to create a profound and distinctive sense of place.

Ellenbrook was named after Ellen Stirling, wife of Captain James Stirling, the first governor of Western Australia. The town park in Ellenbrook has been named Ellen Stirling Park and the artwork located there is a representation of the first boats used to sail up the Swan River. The surrounding mosaic and landscaping represents the waters of the river.
