Welcome to Nyoongar Country

Nyoongar Aboriginal people of the Wadjuk tribe have inhabited the region for at least 40,000 years and are the traditional owners of Western Australia’s (WA) Swan Valley. They have a strong connection with the land and believe a Dreamtime serpent, the Wagyl, once travelled across the country, carving out the valley and the Swan River.
You can find out more about the fascinating history and culture of the Nyoongar people by checking out the History, Heritage and Culture page or joining an authentic Aboriginal tour.

Award-winning Wineries

As well as holding the title as the State’s oldest wine growing region, the Swan Valley is home to many of Western Australia’s (WA) award-winning wineries. Notable wine varieties range from speciality whites such as Verdelho, full-bodied reds and some of the world’s finest fortifieds. Check out the Wine section of the site to find out more.

Breweries and Distilleries

Today the Valley is just as much about award-winning beers and spirits as it is about premium wines. Now you can taste the produce of two distilleries and five boutique beer outlets. See the Breweries and Distilleries page for more details.
