Valencia Vineyard Restaurant

Nestled among 100 year old vines and tall gum trees, hidden within the tranquil setting of the historic Valencia Vineyard you will find a treasure trove of fresh homemade food cooked with passion by owners Marjie and Mike Hurst.

The idea of operating a small rustic and homely restaurant had long been the ambition of Marjie and Mike as far back as 1970, when they lived and worked in London. The following two years involved research in the U.K. and Europe as to the best way to fulfil this ambition. Following a return to Perth in 1972, they followed their chosen paths, with Mike resuming his banking career, and Marjie developing her expertise in human resources. Having enjoyed success in both fields, in 1990 the chance to realise their dream presented itself via a visit to the vacant Valencia Vineyard, which had been empty since 1982.

Negotiations with the then owner resulted in Marjie and Mike constructing a kitchen, plus a dining room in the old federation style, which blended in with the surrounds. The building was compatible with the existing patio of the old round poles, around which trailed the delightful and historic glory vines. Brick paving was a mixture of old and new, with some of the older paving dating back to early 1920s. The restaurant now features a tranquil garden theme, providing a relaxed ambience which will surely soothe you!

Following the opening of the restaurant in 1992 a steady stream of regulars developed and, in many cases, these regulars have been drawn from around the globe! Our business has developed mainly by word-of-mouth promotion. Since our beginnings we have concentrated on providing quality home-cooked food at reasonable prices, with the accent on friendly and personal service. Our aim has always been to provide food from the heart, rather than food from a bottle. Homemade sauces, dressings, pastries etc. are what you can look forward to on your visit to our restaurant. You will also enjoy personalised attention from your hosts, with the opportunity to have a chat with Mike or Marjie, time permitting! We are slightly off the beaten track but don’t let that deter you from finding us and indulging your taste buds! We are licensed and offer beers plus a selection of Swan Valley wines as a pleasant addition to your meal.

There is more! We cater for weddings, small functions, parties, group functions or whatever fits in with your requirements, subject to negotiations. If you are looking for a small and intimate but rustic casual dining experience, then look no further – we are here for your enjoyment – it’s now time to drop in for some honest home-cooked food.
