Rose And Crown Hotel

Commanding a prominent position amongst the many cafes and shops in leafy Swan Street, Guildford, the stately Rose & Crown is truly an impressive landmark.

Built in 1841 and situated at one of the gateways to the Swan Valley, the historic Rose & Crown has provided a welcome resting place for travellers and tourists for over one hundred and sixty years. Registered with the National Trust, The Rose & Crown Hotel has stood the test of time and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the Perth area.

The Rose & Crown is not just a hotel but a complete venue with easily one of the best beer gardens in the country along with its renowned 1841 Bar & Restaurant and the stylish Posh Convict Lounge offering dining patrons a range of comfortable surrounds for all occasions. The Rose and Crown have just completed another addition to improve the facilities with the outdoor bar in the beer garden complete with refreshing water misters to keep you cool in the summer months.

The finest modern Australian locally grown food and extensive wine selection from the Swan Valley and Margaret River region is available throughout the establishment. A must try dish is the famous Rose and Crown tasting plate and to complete your dining experience we offer mouth-watering house made desserts and cheese platters, tea, coffee or quality ports and sweet dessert wines.

The Rose & Crown also boasts a long history of holding wedding ceremonies and receptions, corporate functions and social events; from a casual get together to a formal celebration for 2 to 200 guests, we offer a variety of options including set menus, cocktail parties and buffets to suit all occasions with an ambience and a menu befitting the magnificent Swan Valley region with a broad scope of style and size.

The spacious Lodge Rooms have queen beds and a modern decor that would suit both the business or leisure traveller. The triple rooms cater well for small families providing a queen size plus a single bed. All our rooms are equipped with ensuite facilities, television, air conditioning, fridges and have access to our free wireless internet while tea and coffee making facilities are provided for your comfort. Housed within the original hotel are our four Heritage Suites. A stay in these rooms brings back memories of a bygone era having been faithfully restored in a traditional style complete with 19th century furnishings and authentic décor, but with a touch of modern indulgence in the form of newly installed spa-baths, plasma screen TVs and I-pod docks.

A visit to the historical Rose and Crown would not be complete without making your way down to the Cellar and to the tunnel entrance which was built by convict labour with hand made nails and hand sawn Jarrah beams. These still support the large building even after over 160+ years. Some say the 4 metre deep well was used to draw water for making illicit grog, conjuring up pictures of sinister men rolling heavy barrels down the tunnel to the river like smugglers in ye olde England. A must see for history buffs.

So, if you are after good food and wine, a venue for a celebration, accommodation or Western Australian history come and visit us soon.
