Maggies Place @ Edgecombe Bros

Maggie’s Place at Edgecombe Brothers is the only local fresh produce farmstall in the Swan Valley open week-ends, all year round.

Maggie Edmonds was WA Rural Woman of the Year and runner-up in Australia in 2008. She is a retired farmer and visits farms to collect fresh produce from the region weekly.

Maggie’s Place offers fresh tree-ripened fruit and vegetables in season, concentrating firstly on Edgecombe Bros. produce and that from the Swan Valley, Gingin and Karragullen in the Hills.

Depending upon the season, crunchy broccoli, caulis and celery come farm direct, together with truss tomatoes, heirloom carrots and beetroot, peas and broad beans, and gourmet lettuce.

Fruits range from pluots and golden plums, the best you have ever tasted, to intensely flavoured apricots, peaches, nectarines and avocadoes. Mandrins and oranges, and apples from The Hills, are a treat. Fresh figs and mangoes don’t come any better.

On Sundays, Maggie brings freshly baked bread from Bindoon Bakehaus. At the Bakehaus, Anne Maree has been working since 3 a.m. to ensure Maggie’s Place has buttery croissants, pumpkin bread, French sticks, cobs and granary viennas to offer appreciative Swan Valley buyers.

Delicious freshly-made wholefruit jams and chutneys, made in small batches, are available for tasting each week-end. Strawberry, apricot and fig are our signature jams. Beetroot and Orange and Spicy Tomato are favourite chutneys. Also popular with our foodie friends are salad dressing and tapenade, fresh olive oil straight from the drum, orange and lemon butter. Taste before you buy is an experience many visitors to the Swan Valley enjoy and can be indulged at Maggie’s Place.

Parking off the busy Gnangara Road, just off West Swan Road, is easy at Maggie’s Place. You can treat yourself next door at Edgecombe Bros. to alfresco platter lunches accompanied by a glass of their wine.
