Henley Park Wines & Cafe

The Henley Park Estate

Situated only 23 Kilometres North East of Perth in the beautiful and historic Swan Valley, lies Henley Park Wines.

It was established in 1935 on the rich alluvial soils in the Northern part of the Swan Valley, close to the Swan River.

Since 1986 it has been owned and operated by the Petersen family, originally from Denmark.

Henley Park consists of 11 acres planted with 6500 vines. The grape varieties grown are: Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Semillon, Muscat Gordo Blanco, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot, Tinta Madeira, Tinta Cao, Touriga and Sauzao.

Most of the Cabernet Sauvignon vines are from the original planting.

Wine making

Lisbet and Claus Petersen employed a winemaker when they first purchased Henley Park, but after six vintages, they felt they had gained enough knowledge to take on the winemaking themselves. So since 1992 they have personally converted the 70 ton of estate grown grapes into about 5000 cases of wine.

Their goal is to produce high quality premium wines.

They believe in a “hands on” approach where they are carrying out all aspects of the production, right from vineyard management and winemaking to bottling and packaging of the finished wine.

All wines are made and bottled on site from 100% estate grown grapes.

They do all the vineyard work themselves helped by their two children Michael and Nathalee, but during the vintage they also employ casual labor, as all grapes are hand picked.

The Vintage starts about early February and the lasts until the last grapes are picked by mid March.

Cellar Door

Lisbet and Claus personally operate the Cellar Door sales at Henley Park, so you are always sure of a friendly and professional service from the winemakers themselves.

The full range of wines are available for tasting and sales.

Wines can also be mail ordered and delivered to any destination in Australia.

Also, a large portion of the Henley Park wines has for more than 15 years been exported to Lisbet and Claus’ home country of Denmark.

Henley Park Café

To enjoy your visit to Henley Park even more, why not stay and enjoy a relaxing lunch

at our Café.

Take a seat under the pergola, overlooking the vineyard, or inside the cellar surrounded by the barrels.

The menu complements our wines, which are all available by the bottle or by the glass.

As all wines are available for tasting, it is easy to select the perfect wine of your choice to have with your meal.
