Established in 1998, Harris Organic Wines is the only certified organic winery in the Swan Valley. Harris' produce a wide range of certified organic* (low or no preservative) wines that include: Shiraz, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Verdelho and a sweet Muscato style (Rose Muscat), as well as a delightful Sparkling Chardonnay (Methode Champenoise). Harris' also make several varieties of dessert wines such as Pedro Ximenez and Muscat as well as our wonderful wood-fired distilled BRANDY.
Organic winemaking means sustainable vineyard practices with no chemical inputs. We do not irrigate our vineyard, and our vines have been raised to thrive on rainfall alone, and apart from environmental and economic sustainability, this method contributes to a high quality result in our wines and means an essentially rich and full-bodied flavour.
With only 2 Ha of vineyard the Harris' manage all aspects of wine production on site. Duncan Harris makes several varieties of wine literally by hand, totalling approximately 500 cases per annum. While the quantities are modest, so are the overheads and the prices. Wines range from only $18 -$29 for our main range. Even our wood-fired pot distilled brandy is only $59 per bottle.
Harris Organic Winery is a family owned winery and is operated by winemaker Duncan Harris and his wife Deb with help from daughter Madeleine.
