A PERFECT BLEND OF INNOVATION AND EXPERIENCE
One hundred and twenty five guests enjoyed some of the Swan Valley's finest food and wines at the Swan Valley Wine Show Awards dinner, held at Caversham house on Friday evening, September 16th 2011.
The evening also featured the induction of this year’s Icon of the Swan Valley, Mr Mike Zekulich. Mike was a journalist with the West Australian Newspaper for over 4 decades and his induction follows that of his father, Joe Zekulich, who was inducted as an Icon of the Swan Valley in 2010. Mike Zekulich’s dedication to the Swan Valley and the wines from the region has made an outstanding contribution to the promotion of the wine industry in the Swan Valley.
The Swan Valley Wine Show 2011 saw Mandoon Winery, a new winery that opened in Caversham in July of this year, take out two of the night's major awards in the trophy for Best Shiraz and also the Trophy for the Best Dry Red Table wine with Mandoon Old Vine Shiraz 2010.
John Kosovich Wines were also represented with a high tally of trophies. The John Kosovich Chardonnay 2009, Chenin Blanc 2007 and the Chairman’s trophy was awarded to the John Kosovich Chenin Blanc 2011.
Talijancich winery was another of the night’s big winners, with Talijancich Wines Liqueur Tokay 1969 taking out both the Best Museum and Best Wine of Show Trophies.
The Most successful exhibitor of table wines and 'The most successful Exhibitor of Show' was won by Sittella Winery with a total of 4 gold, 5 silver and 6 bronze medals.
